Speech and Language

“The human voice is the organ of the soul.” – Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Anderson-Smith Speech Therapy provides language and articulation therapy in the natural environment of the client. We practice evidenced based techniques through play therapy, which will engage your child in therapy as well as promote carryover and generalization of speech skills.

Vanessa recently became PROMPT bridging trained during an intensive three-day workshop with certified PROMPT instructors. PROMPT stands for “Prompts for Restructuring Oral and Muscular Phonetic Targets”. This is a tactilely grounded therapy technique that has been proven through evidenced based research to link motor skills to speech production. During therapy the Speech-Language Pathologist uses tactile cues to show the child or adult where the jaw, tongue, and lips should be placed for correct production. PROMPT not only aids patients that demonstrate motor speech disorders but has also been found to be appropriate for adults or children with phonological disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorder, developmental delay, dysarthria, and hearing impairments.

Let our practice help your family member be able to better communicate wants, needs, and feelings.
